There are numerous ab workouts available online, but discovering one that can effectively sculpt your core in just 10 minutes is definitely worth trying. This particular workout consists of 10 different exercises that can be done in between meetings to help strengthen your core. Keep reading to learn more.
Having a strong core is essential as it improves our posture, flexibility, balance, and stability. It also enhances our workout performance by allowing us to maintain proper form. Additionally, a strong core acts as a protective shield, reducing the risk of injuries and minimizing the chances of back pain by providing dependable support for the spine while keeping our posture strong and back healthy.
The creator of this workout, Fit By Mik, considers it a "friendly workout" because it doesn't include planks. Poor form when doing planks can prevent you from engaging your abs and may result in injury or stress on the lower back. If you're new to planks, remember to suck your belly button into your spine throughout the exercise. However, if you suffer from lower back pain, it might be best to skip planks altogether.
So, what does this workout entail? You'll work for 50 seconds and rest for 10 seconds, completing a total of 10 exercises that target all the muscles in your mid-section. During the 10-second rest, take a few deep breaths and prepare yourself for the next exercise.
To learn more about the workout and the proper way to perform each step, we spoke with fitness trainer Klaudia Lucia.
The first exercise is the crunch to half sit-up, which lasts for 50 seconds. Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Place your hands by your temples and lift your upper body to raise your head and shoulders off the ground, keeping your chin off your chest. After the crunch, return to your starting position and perform a half sit-up by reaching a little further and extending your body.
