HEALTH

ðŸ‘‰As the saying goes, health is the root of all happiness. Health is the most valuable asset of a human being. A person's happiness depends on their health. Money, success, fame, honor, influence and prestige are all meaningless to a man of broken health.

Heart Health Linked to Slower Aging

Optimal heart health could potentially decelerate biological aging, reducing the risk of age-related diseases and extending lifespan. Researchers using the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 checklist observed a clear connection between better cardiovascular health and younger biological ages. Participants with the highest cardiovascular health scores were, on average, biologically six years younger than their actual age. This emphasizes the role of cardiovascular health in reducing biological age, disease risk, and mortality. Key findings from the study include: 1. Participants with high cardiovascular health displayed a negative phenotypic age acceleration, indicating a younger physiological age than their actual age. 2. Those with the highest cardiovascular health score had a biological age approximately six years younger on average compared to those with the lowest score. 3. The study utilized the AHA's Life's Essential 8 checklist, which assesses cardiovascular health based on diet, activity, sleep, smoking status, and various health metrics. The study, to be presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2023, highlights the potential for high cardiovascular health to slow biological aging and reduce the risk of age-related diseases, ultimately extending life. The research examined the association between heart and brain health, as measured by the Life's Essential 8 checklist, and biological aging, as measured by phenotypic age. Phenotypic age is calculated based on chronological age plus the results of nine blood markers for metabolism, inflammation, and organ function. The study found that higher cardiovascular health is linked to decelerated biological aging, as measured by phenotypic age. Additionally, adherence to all Life's Essential 8 metrics and improving cardiovascular health can slow down the body's aging process and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
