HEALTH

ðŸ‘‰As the saying goes, health is the root of all happiness. Health is the most valuable asset of a human being. A person's happiness depends on their health. Money, success, fame, honor, influence and prestige are all meaningless to a man of broken health.

Highlighting the silent struggle: The urgency of mental health care for minorities

KATV's Little Rock — Although mental health is still a significant issue in the nation, experts are stressing this month how critical it is to treat minorities' mental health.

Even while it's critical to acknowledge everyone's mental health, research shows that minorities are less likely than other groups to confront this issue head-on, which is becoming more and more of a problem in communities.

"There are a number of problems with minorities and mental health. Mental health services are obviously beneficial to all individuals, right? stated Arkansas Relationship Counseling Center's Christina Hopson Allen.
"The stigma is 'I'm not crazy.' and there's the thought that if you're telling me I need mental health services then there's something wrong with me and that's not necessarily the case," continued Christina Hopson Allen. "Mental health America reports that the rate of mental illness among minorities has increased dramatically over the last few years and is not always handled properly."

"To prevent, one could say, 'I'm experiencing stress. What are some proactive measures I may take to avoid worsening my situation while I'm stressed? That may be bubble baths, perhaps. That may be taking walks. That might be music. You are aware of the steps you take to keep yourself from being overly anxious. And lastly, the intervention. Locating a therapist or psychiatrist—someone you can go to and chat to while processing these issues—would be the intervention. and lastly, upkeep."

Now is the perfect time to address minority suicide rates, which have increased since 2018, according to the CDC, with African Americans experiencing a rise of more than 19% and the Latinx population seeing a rise of 6%.
At times, we experience fear. Although we can be intimidated at times, it's critical that we see past the obstacles in our way and focus on the things that will ultimately benefit us."
